The Capernaum centurion amazed Jesus with his exceptional faith, because he was aware of something many others were not: God’s loving kindness. He humbly asked for God’s favor despite being unworthy of it, because he knew Jesus served the people and forgave their sinful unworthiness. When we pray and expect God’s undeserved response, we acknowledge His amazing hesed.
