December 4: “Advent: A Season of Waiting” (Luke 2: 25-32, Luke 2:36-38, Psalm 62:5-8)

Advent means arrival or coming. We celebrate the first coming of Christ and wait for his second coming. Advent is a season of waiting, a kind of waiting exemplified by Simeon and Anna, filled with hope, faith and intense longing. And such waiting doesn’t mean inactivity. As we wait, we prepare the way of the Lord by proclaiming the gospel and working for justice and peace.
