What does it mean to follow Jesus? It is to be with Jesus, become like him, and do what he did. The most important part of being a disciple is to “be with Jesus.” It is to spend time with him to know Jesus personally. It is to “remain” in Christ through word and prayer. This is why the practice of the disciplines is fundamental to Christian living. The discipline of a “quiet time” helps us to remain in Christ.
