Faith and life are not a straight line. The Lord God is in the twist and turns, and welcomes all. When we feel that we and others are set aside or forgotten, the story of Hagar and Ishmael shows that God’s desire and intent has always been about reconciliation of the whole earth. As this is the weekend of the 250th anniversary of the United States founding, I will connect the story of Hagar and Ishmael to those communities often marginalized and forgotten, and connect that to each of our own wounds/trauma/brokenness, and connect that to Christ Himself.
