June 22: “Why Should We Preach the Gospel to Ourselves?” (Galatians 1:6-7, 3:1-5)

There are many reasons we should rehearse the gospel to ourselves everyday. But the biggest reason is that we are prone, just like the Galatians, to rely on good works for our salvation rather than on God’s grace. But the gospel is that God accepts us not based on our performance but on the finished work of Christ. God’s favor rests on us because we are united to Christ by faith. We need to preach the gospel to ourselves to live by grace. When we are astonished by God’s grace in the gospel message, we will live for God out of joy, love, and gratitude.
