August 31: “Give Us Today Our Daily Bread” (Matthew 6:9-11, 33)

The first part of the Lord’s Prayer deals with God’s agenda, and the second part deals with our needs. The fourth petition calls us to depend on God’s daily provision. If we are truly seeking God’s name, kingdom and will, it will redefine our needs and determine how we use our resources. We will hold on tightly to our king, not to material things. We will seek God’s kingdom first because we know that God will provide for our needs.
