The raising of a widow’s son at Nain is significant because it demonstrates Jesus’ power over death, his compassion for human suffering, and a fulfillment of Moses’ prophecy about another prophet like him. But Jesus is more than a prophet. He is God who has life in himself. Jesus is a compassionate God who came down to suffer with those who suffer. Who are “the orphans and widows” to whom we can show God’s compassion?
