The sinful woman was not welcomed by Simon. But Jesus welcomed her presence and honored her act of devotion. In Jesus, we have a friend who always welcomes sinners. Luke continues the theme of Jesus being the promised prophet. This story also shows that Jesus is more than a prophet. He is God who has the authority to forgive sins. Do we see ourselves in Simon? Do we also see ourselves in the despised woman? Do we love as much as we have been forgiven?
